Tommy Mills

Tommy Mills was born November 25, 1939 in Green County, KY to the late O.C. “Tutt” Mills and Virginia Alice Wilcox Mills. He departed this life Sunday, January 24, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY, having attained the age of seventy-six years, one month and twenty-nine days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. He was a local sportsman, businessman and educator who influenced generations of Green Countians through his on-field performance and dedication to local recreation. Mr. Mills was acknowledged for his automobile body technical wizardry, first operating a business in Exie and later recruited as auto body shop teacher at the Tim Lee Carter Vocational School which evolved into the Green County Area Technology Center. Mr. Mills was also honored in 2004 with a ball field being named in his honor at Legion Park. Mills was employed as a security guard at Cox Interior in Campbellsville. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Ruth Louise Mills.

He is survived by his son Tom Mills and his daughter Valerie Davis and her husband Mike Davis all of Greensburg, KY, two brothers: Kenneth Mills and his wife Geranne of Burden, Kansas, Neil Mills of Central City, KY, and two grandsons: Andrew and Nathan Davis of Greensburg, KY. He is also survived by a special companion Martha Curry of Greensburg, KY and special friends Tara and Wayne England, Tyler, Kaysen and Eastyn along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg, KY with Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating with burial to follow in the Greasy Creek Cemetery.

Friends of Tommy Mills may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home and after 7:00 a.m. Thursday until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy should be made to the American Cancer Society and those can be made at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
