Orman Coy Hawthorne was born November 23, 1923 in Sugar Grove, Virginia to the late Robert McCoy Hawthorne and Mary Beatrice Parks Hawthorne. He departed this life Friday, July 5, 2019 at his home in Green County, KY, having attained the age of ninety-five years, seven months and twelve days.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving during World War II. He was a farmer and a tool and die maker. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife: Lula Mae Aker Hawthorne, one daughter: Shirley Babbitt, one son: Alvin Dwight Hawthorne, two brothers: Kyle Preston Hawthorne, Clarence Elmer Hawthorne and Camet Chester Hawthorne and one sister: Samanthia Sally Hawthorne.
He is survived by three sons and one daughter: Lester Hawthorne and Eddie Hawthorne and his wife Kathy of Greensburg, Roger Hawthorne of Eufaula, Alabama and Peggy Babbitt and her husband Earl of Cave City, one brother and two sisters: Dean Lewis Hawthorne of Eufaula, Alabama, Okey Lee King and Eva Williams, both of Rural Retreat, Virginia, two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Leda Hawthorne of Eufaula, Alabama, Guy Haulsee and Shirley Aker, both of Marion, Virginia, sixteen grandchildren: David and George Anderson, Angela Jackson, Candace Calhoun, Chris Hawthorne, Sara Gonzales, Beth Hall, Kimberly Chambers, James Nethery, Amy Kessler, Robert and Zeb Hawthorne, Natalie Riggs, Dennis Hawthorne, Susan Gephart and Tim Hawthorne, thirty-three great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
