John Thomas Thompson was born June 24, 1951, in Hodgenville, Kentucky to the late Howard Bradley Thompson and Cleo Thornton Thompson.  He departed this life Friday at 6:05 p.m. on January 21, 2022, at the Baptist Health Hardin Hospital.  He was seventy years old.

At an early age he joined Jacob Grove Baptist Church and he was active in the culinary at church.  He also grilled at the Zion District convention.  He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1969.  He was retired from General Electric after 37 years.  He was and avid antique metal toy collector.  He loved talking and never met a stranger.  He was willing to help anyone out.  His favorite hobby was his Monte Carlo SS.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Deroy Thompson and JB Thompson, one sister; Darlene Higgins.  Three brothers-in-law: Joseph Nuckols, James Griffin and Rev. Thomas Vaughn.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Vaughn Thompson of Summersville, whom he was united in marriage to for 42 years.  He is survived by one daughter:  Samanthia Embry and her husband Michael of Mt. Sherman, one son:  Tyler “T.J.” Thompson and his wife Manda of Greensburg, KY.  Two grandchildren, Jordan, and Breanna Embry, three sisters: Virginia Griffin of Greensburg, KY, Evelyn Nuckols of Horse Cave, KY and Jacqueline Thompson of Keene, KY, one brother-in-law, Bill Higgins of Keene, KY., plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for John Thomas Thompson will be 1 p.m. Central Time Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Jacob Grove Baptist Church in the Summersville Community of Green County.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 7 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg.
