Jeannette Rose (Akin) Milby was born April 14, 1940, in Green County, Kentucky to the late Elsie Mae (Combs) Akin and Walter Samuel Akin. She passed away with family by her side on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the age of 84. Besides her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Wayne Milby, and three siblings, Donald Ray Akin, Sarah Lucille Moran, and Bobby Gene Akin.
After working 30+ years at Fruit of the Loom company and Green County Schools, Jeannette ran her own paint and wallpaper business until she retired. She and her husband, Aaron Wayne, helped establish and organize the Summersville Days festival on behalf of the Summersville Volunteer Fire Department. She will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, the warmth and kindness she displayed to everyone she met, and her infinite skills in the kitchen.
Jeannette is survived by her son, Michael Wayne Milby and his wife Rosemary Taft-Milby of Cleveland, Ohio; her grandson, James Grant Milby and his wife Holly Lynn Ratliff of Richmond, Virginia; her granddaughter, Anne Kathryn Milby-Anderson and her husband Ian Anderson of Richmond, Virginia; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Rose Dalton of Scottsdale, Arizona. Additional survivors include a host of relatives and friends all of whom she treasured.
