Mr. J.D. Paxton was born February 5, 1949 in Green County Kentucky to Milerdine Akin Paxton of Greensburg and the late James “Heavy” Paxton. He departed this life Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY, having attained the age of seventy years, five months and twenty-nine days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church of Leitchfield, where he served as a deacon. He retired from teaching at Grayson County High School. He enjoyed reading, loved to watch old western movies and to keep up with the news. He was united in marriage December 18, 1976 to Judy Lynn Gabehart Paxton, who preceded him in death April 21, 2019.

He is survived by his mother: Milerdine Akin Paxton of Greensburg, one brother: Terry Paxton and his wife Karen of Summersville, nephew: Nick and his wife Diann, niece: Anne and her husband Jason, all of Summersville, great nephew: Braeden Paxton, great nieces: Jasey Beard and Brylee Paxton, sister-in-law: Sandra Mercer and her husband Donnie of Leitchfield, their children: Mindy, Sean, Samantha, Aaron and families, brother-in-law: Lewie Gabehart and his wife Gail of Campbellsville and their children: Garrett, Austin, Jenna and families, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. J.D. Paxton will be conducted 10 a.m., Central Time, Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Doug King and Bro. Curtis Slinker officiating with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., Central Time. Tuesday, and after 7 a.m., Central Time, Wednesday at the funeral home.
