James J. "Jim" Reed

James J. “Jim” Reed son of the late James R and Catherine M (Fenlon) Redd was born September 27, 1950 in Chicago. Jim was a devoted and caring partner to Dennis D. Curry to whom he married after 23 years on August 1, 2015. He was a father to Mary C (John) Burciaga, Duane J (Joan) Reed, Patricia Reed, Krista, James B (Stephanie) Reed. Grandfather of Jessica (Katie) and Armondo (Mondo) Burciaga, Emily, Tyler, Peyton, Clayton and Alexa Reed, Judith and Melissa Carter, Great Grandfather of seven. Jim is survived by one brother and sister-in-law: Peter and Sandra Reed of Chicago. He is preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Marie Reed. He was also a co-parent to his partners 9 adopted children. He was referred to by many as “Poppy”.

He was a member of several agencies within the Commonwealth, Board Chair for KPFC, Member of the Mental Health Planning Council, KY-SPIN, State Advisory Panel for Exceptional Children. Jim Received the Jefferson Award in 2007 for his volunteer work in advocating for the education of special needs children. He is also survived by a great friend and love his ex-wife Karen Roberts the mother of his children. He is also survived by great friends: Greg and Arline Barr, Norman Judd, Carol Cecil, Marge Deese, special son, Angelo Hague and niece Vicki Herman.

Visitation: 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and after 7 a.m. Saturday
