Mr. James Griffin was born on July 26, 1932 in Durant, Mississippi to the late Willie and Mattie (Saffold) Griffin. He departed this life on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at his home in Greensburg, Kentucky. He was 85 years old.

He was a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church in Summersville, Kentucky, where he was an usher. He worked at Kentucky Trailers in Louisville, Kentucky and Save-A-Lot Food Stores in Greensburg, Kentucky.

James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Virginia Griffin of Greensburg, KY; four children, Donald Keith (Karen) Griffin of Raleigh, NC; Michelle (Vincent) Hobbs of Louisville, KY; and Robert Earl Griffin and James Griffin, Jr; and one step son Jeffrey (Annita Dial) Barnett of Columbia, KY. Three siblings, Charlotte (Walter) Fisher of West, MS; Daisy (Jimmy) Frison of Chicago, IL; Leola (Nathaniel) Moore of Louisville, KY. Two sisters-in-law: Evelyn Nuckols of Horse Cave, KY, and Mildred Griffin of Louisville. Two brothers-in-law: John Thomas (Margaret) Thompson of Summersville and Bill Higgins of Keene, KY. Three grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. One great grand-child and 6 step great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other family survive.

He was preceded in death by four sisters: Beatrice Grant, Irma Bailey, Alvie Bailey and Lillie Wade; four brothers Willie D. Griffin; Marshall Griffin; Amos Griffin and John T. Griffin.

Wake and Visitation: 10 a.m until the funeral hour at 12 noon at Mt. Union Baptist Church
