Harold Hayes Handy was born on April 2, 1931 in Green County, Kentucky to the late Sally Edna Hayes Handy and Herbert Lewis Handy. He departed this life Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his home in Simpsonville, Kentucky having attained the age of eighty-six years, nine months and twenty-two days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was affiliated with the Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a farmer, worked at General Electric, a welder on Jeff Boat and he and his brother were in business in Louisville. He raised and showed horses. He also loved collecting antiques. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son: Shawn Handy, two sisters and two brothers: Opal and Virginia Tutt, Ed and Homer Handy.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years: Marlene Weickel Handy, three daughters and one son: Shannon and Michael Maccaferri of Louisville, Juliet and Steven Flood of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Shayne Handy of Kentucky and Jacqueline and David Spradlin of Louisville, three brothers and one sister: Benny and Reba Handy of Louisville, Bill and Mae Handy of Greensburg, Rex and Pat Handy of Columbia and Wilma Jean and Bobby Landis of Greensburg, seven grandchildren: Emily Flood, Rhen Handy, Shayne Handy II, Cassie Spradlin, William Spradlin, Jessica Sneed and Jillian Startzel and one great grandchild: Mariah Handy.

Place and Time of Service: Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home - 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2018

Visitation: Saturday, January 27, 2018 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and after 7:00 AM Sunday at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg, KY

Minister: Rev. Dale Curry

Interment In: Greensburg Cemetery with full military honors
