Carlton Jay Patton of Edmonton, formerly of the Liletown Community of Green County, was born August 30, 1935, in Noxen, Pennsylvania, to the late James Franklin and Ruth Casterline Patton. He departed this life Friday, April 11, 2025, at his home, having attained the age of eighty-nine years, seven months and twelve days.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended Liletown United Methodist Church. He served as a Deacon at Shaefferstown, PA, Harveys Lake, PA, Dallas PA, Red Lion Methodist, where he taught teens for a couple of years, surveyed the property for the new addition, helped pack care packages that were sent to the soldiers overseas (SOS Vietnam founded by Bee McFall in 1967.) He helped with the Oyster Dinners for Red Lion and Glasgow Churches He also served as Deacon at North East Baptist Church MD and Trammell Creek Baptist Church, where he was Sunday School Superintendent for 1 year and helped park cars for a couple of funerals. He served as a door greeter at all the Churches that he attended. He was involved in the outreach ministries: Sunday Breakfast Mission Front St., Men’s Old Folks Home, The Old Ladies Home and Life Teaching Weekly, all in the Delaware area. He was a surveyor and foreman. He attended Philadelphia College of Bible 2 years Philadelphia, PA, 1 Year Wilmington, DE and 1 Year Elkton MD.
He was united in marriage September 7, 1957, to Dorothy (Dot) Ann Miers Patton, who preceded him in death December 24, 2017. Besides his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Donald and Lowell Patton.
He is survived by two sons: Byron Patton (Christel) of Colora, Maryland, Miles Patton (Melissa) of Wilmington, Delaware, one daughter: Amy Kerr (Richard) of Edmonton, KY, five grandchildren: Christopher, Paige and Alisha Patton, Cynthia Gemmill (Tom), and Jessica Pippin (Adam), nine great grandchildren: Annabelle, Corbin and Richard Bolt III, Corine Irwin, Trent and Vivian Gemmill, Justine and Aspen Pippin and Leo Patton, one great-great grandchild: Gracie Lobb, two brothers and four sisters: Osbert and Steven Patton, Julia Kovalick, Sara McGovern, Louisa Clark and Marlene Belles, all of Pennsylvania, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a private graveside service at the Liletown Cemetery in the Liletown community of Green County officiated by Jim Frank. Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg is in charge of the arrangements.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to the Liletown Cemetery Fund. These can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
