Bethel Jones Henderson

Bethel Jones Henderson met her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2018, and was reunited with her husband, RT Henderson. Beth, as she was known to her friends, was born on February 6, 1935, in Greensburg, KY. She is survived by her daughter, Vonda Henderson of Winston-Salem, NC; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Denise and Wayne Heidel of Winston-Salem; her great-grandson, Charles McSwain of Winston-Salem and his father Chris McSwain of Kernersville; her younger brother and sister-in-law, Doyle and Carolyn Jones of Louisville, KY; her nephew and niece-in-law, Steve and Marcy Jones of Nicholasville, KY as well as a great-niece, great-nephew, and great-great-nephew; Annette and Mark Robinson of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rachel and Larry Lemons of Greensburg, KY; niece and nephew-in-law, Cindy and Ricky Osborne of Campbellsville, KY; as well as two great-nephews; and niece, Delisa Patterson of Campbellsville, KY. Beth is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, RT Henderson; brother, William Jones; parents, Alverta and Cleo “Dutch” Jones. Beth was a homemaker who faithfully supported her husband through 19 job transfers during his career in the railroad industry. She repeatedly set up homes for her family wherever her husband’s job took them, including Louisville, KY; Birmingham, AL; Knoxville, TN; Jacksonville, FL; and Florence, SC. Wherever they went, Beth accumulated friends and made a great effort to maintain friendships and relationships, whether near or far. At the end of her husband’s career, they moved to Winston-Salem, NC to be near their daughter and granddaughter. They called Winston-Salem home for the last 24 years. Wherever home was at any given time, Beth could be depended on to serve in various capacities. As a woman who loved Jesus, Beth frequently served in church ministry work, including Sunday School teacher, GA leader, and more recently as Media Coordinator for her church, Old Town Baptist. Beth was known and loved by many. With her quiet dignity, she was a gifted caregiver, having spent her final three years of life in her hometown of Greensburg, KY, caring for her older brother before his death in June 2018. She returned to her immediate family after his death and resumed her life in Winston-Salem. Family and friends will agree that there would have never been enough time to be had with Bethel J. Henderson. A woman of extraordinary strength, she was full of grace, wisdom, and compassion. Beth was loved by countless people and has left behind an indelible mark on those who were blessed to call her family or friend. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Her family and friends can be comforted to know she is at peace with her beloved Jesus and her cherished husband, and that thanks to the forgiving grace of Jesus Christ, Beth’s death is not the end, but only the beginning of her eternity.
